Every NES game ever on eBay

January 28th, 2007 by article3
Filed under: This isn't the first bulk sale of hundreds of retro games on eBay, and it certainly won't be the last, but that doesn't mean we're not impressed by the completeness of this particular collection. Currently the bidding is at an impressive $5,200 with just over 6 days to go, which isn't surprising considering what's included: 670 NES games, which the seller claims constitutes "every game ever made" for the Nintendo Entertainment System. If achieving your childhood dream of owning, we repeat, every NES game ever made, isn't enough for you, then you'll no doubt explode when you see that ROB the robot, a Power Glove, a multitude of other accessories, and that essential NES console are all part of the deal. When you wake up in a couple of hours -- after you finish reading this post you'll pass out due to an overwhelming wave of nostalgia, trust us -- you better cross your fingers and check this post's comment's section in the hope that someone has found a flaw in the deal, otherwise you'll be forever jealous of the winner. Casio’s EXILIM EX-Z1050 and EX-Z75 compact digicams

January 28th, 2007 by article3
Filed under: Looks like Casio is in the mood for ever-so-slight upgrades rather than completely revamping a pair of its EXILIM digital cameras, as the EX-Z1050 and EX-Z75 both seem to be brushed up versions of their former selves. Nevertheless, the 10-megapixel Z1050 sports that all too common shiny silver enclosure, 2.6-inch LCD monitor, anti-shake technology, up to ISO 3200, rechargeable Li-ion battery, USB 2.0 connectivity, and a 30fps VGA video mode as well. The slimmer, sleeker Z75 comes in with 7.2-megapixels, a equally sized 2.6-inch screen, 3x optical zoom, anti-shake, USB 2.0, and a "best shot" feature that presumably measures lighting and surroundings in order to automatically snap the most attractive shot. So while Casio hasn't done anything revolutionary here, you can still pick up the Z1050 for ¥12,990 ($107) or the Z75 for just ¥9,990 ($83) if you're content with middle-of-the-road. Update: Hold up, before you go buying a plane ticket to whatever fantasy land they sell these $80 cameras in: the quoted prices are actually in Taiwanese dollars, not yen, meaning that the Z1050 is dropping for $394 and the Z75 for $303. Build your own GPS data logger on the cheap

January 28th, 2007 by article3
Filed under: It's not the first DIY GPS data logger by a long shot, but Steve Cholewiak's new PIC16F88 Delorme Tripmate -- which Steve originally envisioned as a way to log his runs by carrying the unit in a backpack -- might very well be one of the cheapest. For under $20 you can snap up an old Delorme Tripmate off of eBay, and then set to work with Steve's detailed instructions. Sure, you'll need a few hax0r chops to begin with, and there's plenty of work to be done to get the Tripmate to spit out the right kind of data, and then store that data in an accessible way on some self-built circuits, but it's not like you had anything better to do this weekend, right? Oppo unveils sleek 2GB V5 widescreen PMP

January 28th, 2007 by article3
Filed under: , While you may be a bit more familiar with Oppo's upscaling DVD player lineup, the company is hitting us up with an ultra-sleek "credit card sized" portable media player this time around. The V5 touts a 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio, three-inch touchscreen LCD, and a design that bears striking resemblance to your run-of-the-mill digiframe. Nevertheless, the 2GB V5 relies on an overly simplistic control scheme, leaving the buttons on top of the unit's frame rather than around the bezel, and comes in at just 11-millimeters thick. Although the company seems a bit more interested in just how pretty this thing looks than dishing out the juicy details, we do know that your MP3 and MPEG4 files will play back just fine here, but any info concerning battery life, availability, or pricing are noticeably absent. Cancer patient has Xbox 360 stolen whilst in hospital

January 28th, 2007 by Darren Murph

Filed under:

There's inhumane, and then there's despicable, but unfortunately for a 17-year old cancer patient receiving treatment at Massachusetts General Hospital, he knows all too well about both of them. A Vermont-based teenager had been suffered from osteosarcoma, bone cancer in the leg, and was "recovering from surgery" a few hundred miles away from home. Apparently, someone(s) the family actually knew broke into their home while they were obviously away, and proceeded to jack his Xbox 360 as well as "over $1,000 worth of games and DVDs" while they were at it. Local police suggest that they "do have some good leads involving current and former students at local high schools," and while none of the culprits have been apprehended just yet, folks have been more than generous in helping Jeff return to some state of normalcy by donating funds to help with family expenses, and one individual actually dropped off a new Xbox 360 console for a local radio station to deliver.

Doggy treadmill gets your pup in shape

January 28th, 2007 by article3
Filed under: For those of you out there whipping your offspring into shape by utilizing the Step2Play middleman, and burning your own fair share of calories on the GameRunner, it's about time Rover joined the fray, eh? The Dog Walker treadmill helps prevent doggy obesity and apparently relieves the dog's stress, all while helping it to exert all that pent-up energy from being cramped up in the house all day. Aside from sporting a smaller, dog-friendly design, casters to enable easy transport, and two side shields to prevent minor tumbling disasters, the machine also sports a safety leash which prevents the pup from sliding off the rear (or giving up on the goal) and a devilish remote control to vary the speed from 0 to 5-kilometers per hour (3.1 mph). So if you're tired of Fido's stomach dragging the ground while crawling around in misery, you can pick up its very own treadmill (to go along with that recently-purchased pedometer) for ¥15,800 ($131).
